With the latest e-invoicing regulations introduced by the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), all applicable taxpayers are required to link their accounting systems to the ETA’s e-invoicing portal and generate e-invoices. It’s crucial to evaluate your tax obligations under these guidelines and ensure compliance.

As a seller, it’s your responsibility to generate tax invoices and credit notes directly from your accounting systems in line with ETA regulations. To assist with this process, noon provides an order purchase summary that outlines the products the customer purchased at an all-inclusive price. You can use this information to generate the Tax invoices from the ETA portal.

How to Provide Customers with Tax Invoices and Credit Notes?

Customers can request tax invoices or credit notes from noon. Here’s what happens:

Step 1: Collect the Buyer's Info:

  • If it's a B2B customer: Ask them for their full corporate name, business address, and Tax Registration ID.

  • If it's a B2C customer: You generally need their name and ID/Passport number if the transaction exceeds a certain amount; standard customer details apply.

Note: You will find this information in the report discussed above.

Step 2: Generate the Invoice: Input the sale into your billing system or the ETA portal. Ensure you apply the correct VAT rate (the standard rate in Egypt is 14% for most items).

Step 3: ETA Validation: Your billing system will digitally sign the invoice and upload it to the ETA. The ETA immediately validates it and returns a PDF copy embedded with an official QR code and UUID (Unique ID code).

Step 4: Send to the Customer: Download the ETA-approved PDF invoice (showing the QR code) and send it directly to the customer on the email where the customer requested the invoice.

Pro Tip: It’s strongly recommended to issue tax invoices and credit notes immediately for every sale and return. This ensures the documents are readily available for quick sharing with customers when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Q:If a customer asks for a tax invoice after one year, should I share it with them?
Yes, under CPA law, customers can request their tax invoice at any time after receiving their order.

Q:If I need a transaction certificate for all of my sales with noon, can I request this?
Yes, you can request this, but the certificate will only include your commission and VAT amount, not the sales amount, as per noon’s Tax team.
