Understanding Directship Express (DSE)

Welcome to the Directship Express (DSE) program guide! This article breaks down what the program is, how it boosts your store’s performance, how fulfillment works, and key terms you need to know before getting started.

What is Directship Express?

Directship Express (DSE) is noon’s fast-delivery program designed for sellers who fulfill orders directly from their own warehouses.

When you join DSE, your product listings earn an Express Badge. This badge tells shoppers that their order will arrive fast—either next-day or within 2 days. In return, you commit to packing and handing over orders on time every single day.

Where does Directship Express fit?

To understand Directship Express, its important to understand the different fulfillment models on noon:

  • FBN (Fulfilled by noon): You store your inventory in a noon warehouse, and noon handles the picking, packing, and shipping.

  • FBP (Fulfilled by Partner): You store, pick, and pack products in your own warehouse, while noon handles customer delivery.

  • Directship Express (DSE): This is an upgraded program within FBP. Your core warehouse operations stay the same, but you follow a tighter daily schedule to ensure faster customer delivery.

Benefits: Why Should You Join?

Products enrolled in Directship Express display an Express Badge and a fast-delivery promise on the product page. Because many shoppers filter specifically for fast shipping, this program offers key advantages:

  1. Higher Visibility: Express listings receive better placement and higher search priority on noon.

  2. Better Conversion: Shoppers are more likely to buy when they see a reliable, next-day delivery promise.

  3. Increased Customer Trust: The Express badge builds long-term buyer trust across your entire seller profile.

Note: Directship Express is a selective program. To keep your Express badge, you must maintain consistently high operational standards.

Who Delivers the Order?

Key Metric Measured

Directship (DS)

You pack the order; noon delivers it to the customer.

On-time Handover (handing packages to noon on schedule).

Direct Delivery (DD)

You pack and deliver the order directly to the customer.

On-time Delivery (reaching the customer’s doorstep on time).

Handover Modes for Directship (DS) Sellers

If you use the Directship (DS) model, you can choose one of two ways to transfer your packed orders to noon:

  • Pickup: A noon Delivery Agent (DA) comes directly to your warehouse to collect packed orders during a designated daily handover window. Your job is to have create the shipments and keep the orders ready before the agent arrives.

  • Drop-off: You drop off your packed orders at a designated noon drop point before the scheduled cutoff time.

Bulky vs. Non-Bulky Items

  • Non-Bulky Items: Standard goods (e.g., tech, clothes, small appliances) that follow standard daily schedules and fees.

  • Bulky Items: Heavy or large items (e.g., furniture, large appliances, oversized tech) that require special transport.

For more information on the dimension details, you can refer to this article.

Key Operational Differences

  • Cutoff Times: Bulky items often have earlier daily cutoffs to allow time for specialized trucks and loading crews.

  • Fees & Packaging: Charges are based on size/volumetric weight, incurring higher handling fees and requiring extra packaging protection.

  • Action Item: Always double-check your SKU dimensions and cutoff times under Seller Lab > FBP >Warehouse Settings to ensure on-time handovers and accurate billing.

Important note: Always check the specific cutoffs and fees for bulky items under your warehouse settings in Seller Lab.

Who Can Join?

Because Directship Express requires high reliability, enrollment is selective. To qualify, you need:

  • An active Directship warehouse with a proven history of fulfilling FBP orders.

  • Healthy performance metrics (consistently low defect rate, low cancellation rate, and low late shipment rates).

  • A warehouse location that falls within noon's Express delivery coverage area.

Key Terms Glossary

Here are the standard terms you will see frequently when managing Express orders:

  • Express Tag / Badge: The badge shown on your product listings advertising fast delivery. It may pause automatically during holidays or if you hit your maximum daily order limit.

  • Cutoff Time: The daily deadline for processing orders. Orders received after this time roll over to the next day's processing cycle.

  • Shipment Creation: The shipment you create for the day’s orders. Creating it before cutoff is the daily discipline at the heart of the program.

  • Handover Window: The designated timeframe in which packages must be given to noon (via DA pickup or drop-off).

  • Adherence Rate: A rolling percentage measuring how consistently you complete your order handovers on time. This is the main performance metric for Directship sellers.
